a monk idea
Ok so I'm thinking of making a monk. Now I think this is how it's going to work. First, I'll get ascended. Then, I get to level 20 (or other way around). Next, I will change my secondary from Mesmer to Warrior. After that I will redistribute my points and get some warrior skills, and GO!
Ok so, I'm wondering if i should
A: start out with mesmer as secondary
or
B: Start out with warrior as my secondary
Also what are the advantages of mesmer as your secondary?
edit: i have a level 16 monk and not once have i used a mesmer spell except if im bored...and feel like trying to do damage

MY suggestion to you is. Doesnt matter.
Just play a healing monk using healing and divine favor attributes.
You'll have no problem wut so ever about joining a group. Once you've accended you can change your profession as see fit.

Channeling vs. Bonneti's defence for farming. That's about it.

Channeling is good almost always, a good monk needs efficient energy management. Also, Inspired Hex is a very good spell for a monk to carry.

Hex Breaker is far more useful than Inspired Hex.

That's not true. A Monk needs to be able to support the rest of the team, and Hex Breaker does nothing in that. Also, the energy gain by Inspired Hex increases the monks ability to heal. Hex Breaker is only good if for some reason the enemy is spamming hexes at you and only you.

Hex Breaker is generally better (in my experience) for PvP. Inspired Hex you can only use once per xx seconds, Hex Breaker you can spam. Never played a Me using Inspired/Hex Breaker in PvE.

inspired is just as good as hex breaker imo. It depends on the situation as to which is really going to be "better." One of my Arena Monks (A Nudder Monk)
is highly annoying (Mo/Me) because of the fact that he maintains 5 enchants and carries inspired hex, and inspired enchantment for extra energy management. I love popping either off and nailing say an Air Attunement or Conjure Phantasm. Hex breaker is better in environments where you expect a mass amount of hexes to be directed solely at your character (You're a monk or E/*) otherwise, remove/inspired/smite hex are better IMO.

Hex Breaker is probably better in Arenas since, you can't really rely on teammates too much so you take Hex Breaker to ensure you can keep up with the amount of hexes the enemy uses.
In Tombs and GvG hexes aren't very common with the dominance of Nature's, so Inspired Hex is usually more than enough, plus it gives you energy
